The Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA) is set to introduce the Show Your Card & Save (SYC&S) global discount programme to north coast residents and business operators at the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Ocho Rios Branch on October 18 at 6 p.m.
With the recent (July 10) launch of the SYC&S programme, Jamaica officially became a part of an international reciprocity agreement which enables members of the JAA to access roadside assistance and preferential services in countries where there are Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) member clubs.
Show Your Card & Save is spearheaded by the AAA, and since the 1997 start of the programme, its global membership has increased to more that 150 million persons. As the name implies, the SYC&S allows members of the JAA, a subsidiary of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS), to simply, show their card and save, benefiting from discounts at more than 150,000 merchants in some 45 countries.
“We want to introduce the range of benefits to the resort communities of the north coast, where an estimated 1.5 million international automobile club members visit each year,” Alan Beckford , JAA General Manager, explained.
Mr. Beckford noted that in today’s environment, where technology has conquered the barriers of time and space, and global travel is increasing, being a part of a worldwide network such as an international Automobile Club has tremendous benefits for both merchants and club members.
“More than 70% of persons with American passports are members of the AAA, and with the high traffic of American visitors to Jamaica, the programme provides access to a significant network of potential customers,” Mr. Beckford said.
He also stated that participating merchants are promoted in AAA publications, adding even greater benefits from the globally distributed magazines, flyers, and web casts.
Several leaders in the tourism and hospitality arena, civic leaders, car dealers, insurance companies, and fleet operators are expected to attend the event.
