Discounts or sales are great ways to save money on the products and services you need, especially those you use regularly. But, how much do you consider the value of the items or services that you purchase?

As part of the annual “Black Friday” sales event, which has become popular in Jamaica, the JAA has slashed its membership fee by 50% and will be hosting a members lyme on Friday, November 27 as it seeks to encourage more Jamaicans to experience the benefits which a JAA membership has to offer.

Duane Ellis, general manager of the JAA, said the sales event will continue until Saturday November 28, to provide an opportunity for the Association to thank new and existing members for trusting the organisation with their well being.

“We believe that every Jamaican, whether a motorist or not, should join the JAA because our services and benefits are not only for persons who operate motor vehicles,” he explained adding that “Apart from the savings, we also want to provide peace of mind for persons to know that they have ‘backup’ whenever they are on the road, through our roadside assistance service.”

And whether members benefit from the discount or pay full price, Mr Ellis emphasises that they can benefit by recouping more than 200% of the cost through services and discounts.

The association also provides a comprehensive driver education programme facilitated by the JAA Driving Academy, which complements its work with road safety and mobility advocacy across Jamaica.

Our JAA roadside assistance service ensures that members are never stranded, if they have a problem with their motor vehicle on the road; and, is comprehensive, including: a jump start, change of flat tyre, minor vehicle repairs and other assistance. Between the hours of 6 pm and 6 am, security response is provided for all roadside assistance responses to ensure the safety of members.

“In the case of an accident, we help our members to save money through the provision of wrecker/towing service, covering up to $5000 of this cost. Additionally, we also provide locksmith services valued at between $2500 to $3500” Mr Ellis noted. Both these services are available to JAA members once each year, as part of their membership package.

Members can also realise major savings through the internationally recognised Show Your Card and Save discount programme, which allows them to save up to 20% on some products and services, offered by more than 100 local merchant partners.

“In addition, the discounts extends overseas to some 150,000 merchants, globally” he added.

Persons can sign up for membership via the JAA website at www.calljaa.com; and at the JAA headquarters at 7 Central Avenue in Kingston.
